We got more information from our social worker. A 6 year old boy we had interest in was already matched with a family. Hard to be sad knowing he found a home. :)
We weren't submitted for the little girls ages 2 and 4. I was told that there were so many families interested their social worker stopped accepting submissions! That's great news, I'm sure the sisters will have an adoptive family soon. :)
There were a couple other kids, but we haven't heard back on any of them. In two weeks we can go back to the adoption office and view the new profiles. I'm anxious to see them but I don't think Kevin will be able to get off work to go. I don't want to go without him. Our social worker has pretty good judgement and knows what we're looking for so I might just ask her to call us if she sees a child she thinks would be right for our family.
This whole adoption process is taking longer than I thought it would. To tell the truth I'm a little worried. Because we're a military family we move often and I'm concerned that we won't find a match before we leave. :( All things are done in God's time. I have to keep reminding myself again and again.

Still looking
I find myself checking my email every morning and before I go to bed. Maybe I'll hear from the social worker and she'll have a match for us.....
One of the kids I had inquired about was a ten year old boy. I found his profile a few months ago on the internet and he's been my number one choice ever since. Reading his profile was like reading about my husband 20 years ago. He had so many of the same interests and hobbies. When the social worker got back to us we learned that he had needs our family was unable to meet. I'll admit I cried. I've been praying for him to find a home for a long time, even if it wasn't ours.
We tried for a second boy, also 10 yrs. old, but that fell through as well. Basically the same reason.
We still haven't heard anything on the two little girls. I found out that a family we are friends with had put in their package for the girls as well. Honestly I think that they'd be a better match.
I'll keep everyone posted on our progress. I also wanted to mention that when I talk about the kids I feel like it would be inappropriate to go into detail. That is why I do not list their names or personal information.

Now the waiting begins.
We went to the adoption agency to look for a child yesterday.
Basically what happened is that we were given a binder with profiles of available children. The profiles usually contain a picture, but not always. The legal status of the child is listed and a brief description. Things like age, education, interests and special needs. It was sad to read their stories but it really made me think about things I hadn't before.
We found a few kids that we were interested in so we requested more information. Often times the profiles aren't updated and children are no longer available.
We asked to be considered for two little girls. They're sisters age 2 and 4. Our package will be sent to their social worker and after being compared to all the other submissions the best match is chosen. Many families put in for the girls so the chance of us being picked aren't that good.
I'm not worried about it though. Our social worker said that it normally takes 6 months to one year to be matched with a child.

Avila Valley Barn, See Canyon Fruit Ranch
Here are a few of the pictures from our homeschool field trip. The kids went on a hay ride and picked pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. After that they played in the hay maze and ate ice cream. We also visited the See Canyon Fruit Ranch.

Emu
We went to Avila Valley Barn last week. Here is a movie of the kids feeding an Emu. (They kept calling it an ostrich.) I'm surprised they kept feeding it after seeing it bite the woman next to us.

Kolton's toe
Kolton caught his toe on the front door last week and it pulled up his nail. I cleaned and wrapped it. Couple days later he hit it again. I took him into the doctor this morning and the doctor removed the toe nail. He's a tough little guy. Here are the pictures of what it looked like. I tried to shrink the pictures a little because I know not everyone wants to see that sort of thing. For those of you that are interested they can be enlarged by clicking on them.
